History was made in Godalming last night as the

Olympic torch received a rapturous reception

from thousands of well-wishers who packed the

route of the iconic symbol as it was carried

through the town by seven chosen torchbearers.

Over 20,000 people lined the route through

Godalming in summer sunshine as the team of

torchbearers led by local resident and double

silver Olympic medal winner Roger Black,

paralysed charity campaigner Daniel Eley as well

as fellow torchbearers Kate Evans, Michael

Evans, Rachel McLean, Megan Munro and Becky

Robinson.
